Do Poles fear redundancy. Will 2024 bring a change in the perception of our citizens?

To rodzi u wielu powody do niepewności. (...)

Change in the law as early as April 2024
Małgorzata Anisimowicz

Is this a real help for Entrepreneurs? Are Entrepreneurs better off in the "new reality" after 15 October 2023? Is this enough for Entrepreneurs to breathe? A part of Entrepreneurs affected by the tax changes positively perceive the proposed changes. Although the majority is still sceptical. According to the proposed changes, only part of the beauty industry services are affected. Entrepreneurs ask why the beauty industry and not, for example, photography. Where is the economic analysis to support the rationale for these changes? See more on this topic: money.pl There are also further questions, and what about the health contribution. After all, the changes introduced under the previous government led many entrepreneurs to bankruptcy. Such a tax system leads to an increase in the shadow economy rather than revenue. This is what we hear from entrepreneurs in many consultations and discussions. The rules for the payment of health premiums introduced in the 2022 Polish Lada have resulted in a significant increase in the burden on Polish companies. According to entrepreneurs, the health contribution paid in such a way, i.e. accounted for from income without the possibility to deduct it, worsens the situation [...] (...)

Restructuring for farmers' problems. What solutions should be proposed?
Małgorzata Anisimowicz

Solving the problems of Polish agriculture requires an integrated approach and cooperation between the government, agricultural organisations and farmers themselves. Necessary actions are the introduction of price stabilisation, reduction of production costs, simplification of access to support, investments in adaptation to climate change and promotion of agriculture among young people. These are actions that take time. What about farmers who are at risk of insolvency here and now and are facing the spectre of bankruptcy? For farmers at risk of insolvency, there are many options for action. However, the key is to react quickly and seek professional support to help them through their difficult financial and legal situation. Volkswagen Group still grappling with supply chain crisis
PMR team

The Volkswagen Group admits that it is still feeling the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the related chip supply crisis. The crisis is passing, but more important than that is the future and preventing the next one. The German company has therefore developed a new strategy for purchasing electronic components to ensure its supply in the long term 📈 📣"Precise knowledge of the semiconductors used allows us to better determine the global demand and availability of these components. This emphasises risk management, which in future will extend to the level of individual electronic components and help us to detect and avoid bottlenecks early on. For strategically important semiconductors and even for the planned future growth of the Group, we will rely on direct purchases from semiconductor manufacturers," - said Dirk Große-Loheide, Member of the Volkswagen Passenger Car Purchasing Board and member of the Volkswagen Group Executive Board. According to the Group, a special Semiconductor Sourcing Committee (SSC) has been set up across all brands, comprising representatives from the brands' procurement and development departments, as well as [...] (...)

One in four workers at the electric motor factory in Tarnow will lose their jobs
PMR team

👉 The financial crisis at the Tarnów-based company ATB Tamel has led to redundancies. The electric motor factory plans to reduce its workforce by 200 people by the end of this year. This is as much as a quarter of the total workforce. 👉The plan to reduce the workforce at the Tarnów factory envisages that the first to be affected will be those employees who have acquired pension rights, those employed on fixed-term contracts and civil-law contracts (commission contracts and contracts for specific work), as well as prisoners. The last group will include employees with permanent employment contracts. 👉 ATB Tamel is another company operating in Poland that has recently announced massive job cuts. This shows that the crisis is affecting everyone, without exception. More on this topic writes Bankier.pl 🔽🔽🔽🔽 Article originally appeared on @bankier.pl:on 21 August 2023. As a result of the crisis, micro companies are looking for external financing
PMR team

👉 In a period of economic slowdown, delayed payments from customers or problems with payment bottlenecks, the owners of many companies have to fight to maintain the financial liquidity of their businesses. The 'Corporate Spending Barometer' survey commissioned by NFG shows that, in this situation, one in four micro-businesses (26 per cent) has used additional financing in the last 12 months. 👉 At the same time, high interest rates meant that entrepreneurs using external financing most often reached for money from private resources (43 per cent). Only in the next place did they opt for a bank loan (37 per cent), while 20 per cent asked family or friends for help. One in 10 micro-enterprises benefited from grants, and factoring and leasing were each indicated by 4 per cent. 👉 Funds from an external source of financing were most often used for the purchase of goods (29 per cent) and the repayment of liabilities (23 per cent), with the reasons for reaching for financing varying depending on the industry in which the company operates or the assessment of the entrepreneur's financial condition. Full warehouses, empty wallets - this is the current situation of Polish farmers
PMR team

Polish farmers have been hit twice this year - by drought and flooding ☀🌧 Although in the spring there was talk of a harvest close to 35 million tonnes of cereals, it is now clear that it will be lower. Unfortunately, however, this does not at all mean that prices will rise and farmers will get more money for their work. 📣"Prices are shaped by the global situation and many other factors beyond the farmer's control. The way available to him to manage the risk is to store grain and wait for a price that is commensurate with his inputs. However, this does not solve the liquidity problem - the Polish farmer has a full warehouse and an empty wallet. He rescues himself with loans, but this may turn out to be a trap if, the following year, he loses his crops as a result of, for example, drought or hailstorms. There is no other way for the sector but to join forces, to create producer groups in order to counterbalance the position of intermediaries". - Dr Krzysztof Łyskawa from the Poznań University of Economics tells Interia Biznes. The article appeared [...] (...)

Poles are closing and suspending businesses
PMR team

👉 In July, entrepreneurs registered 29,000 new companies - 6.4 per cent less than a year ago. The decline is visible among most industries, with information and communication and accommodation and catering (23 and 21 per cent) being the hardest hit. The weakening is related to the bottom of the economic slowdown, explains Sebastian Sajnóg from the Polish Economic Institute. At the same time, the number of business closures is increasing 📈 In July, 15,000 companies were deregistered, an increase of 9.9 per cent compared to the previous year. More and more entrepreneurs are also deciding to suspend their activities. Already 10 thousand entities have decided to make such a move, while a year ago it was 7.8 thousand. Crisis in the transport industry
PMR team

The transport industry is in crisis. The economic cooling has caused companies to start making losses ❗ The transport business climate in the European Union has fallen sharply. Compared to last year, the demand for transport services is clearly lower, in some cases by as much as 15-20 per cent 📉 Unfortunately, experts predict that 2023 could end in losses and, in the worst case scenario, even bankruptcy for many transport companies. According to the Central Economic Information Centre, 208 companies, including seven from the road freight transport industry, went bankrupt in the first half of 2023 - the same number as in the whole of 2022. Wprost.pl writes about the details 👇 The article appeared in @wprost.pl:on 10 August 2023. Read the full version:" Transport industry in crisis. Companies are recording losses (...)

Crisis quietly hits dairy plants
PMR team

The dairy crisis has led to a deterioration in the industry's financial performance. Gross profit generated in Q1 2023 fell to just £64.8m from as much as £895m in the same period in 2022. Net profit, on the other hand, fell to PLN 24.6 million in Q1 2023 from PLN 783.5 million a year ago. This gives - 7 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively, of last year's profits 📉 The crisis of Polish dairy processors was led to by record-breaking milk procurement prices at the end of last year combined with falling shop prices and lower demand, as well as high energy prices. As a result, every company in the big three (Mlekovita, Mlekpol and Polmlek) has already made acquisitions of smaller dairies this year ⚠ "Processing costs have risen unimaginably. And any burden will result in more and more companies having to look for salvation in the form of consolidation or looking for external investors, or they will close the business," says Agnieszka Maliszewska, CEO of [...] (...)
